Ellu Mittai / Sesame Burfi / Sesame candy / sesame ladoo / ellu urundai / Sesame Balls is a crunchy and nutty sweet made primarily with sesame seeds and Jaggery. Ellu means Sesame seeds in Tamil. This burfi is so nutritious with the goodness of two healthy ingredients Sesame seeds and Jaggery (natural sugar substitute). Here the Sesame seeds are roasted, mixed with caramelized Jaggery, and then made into burfi or balls. Ellu Mittai is a part of the South Indian tradition to make for festive seasons to bring goodness and happiness right through the year.
